Forget About Code Editing
To implement GTM code snippets you usually need to edit and modify the source code of your store. Not anymore.
With this Magento 2 Google Tag Manager Extension all you need is to tweak a few settings in the admin panel.
Now anyone can add, edit and disable GTM tags without relying on webmasters or technical support.
Don't Create GTM Tags - We Did It For You
Once you insert the Google Tag Manager tracking IDs in the admin, all eCommerce events you need are already created.
All you need is to export the JSON file with them to your Google Tag Manager account.
Then data about impressions, add-to-carts, purchases and other customer activities will be passed to Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4. Getting insights about your store performance is as simple as that.

Enable Server-side Tracking
Although Magento Google Tag Manager is the ultimate tool for data tracking, some data might still be missing. Your visitors don’t accept cookies, or simply use AdBlockers that prevent data from being collected. But not any more.
Enable the server side-tracking using GA4 Measurement Protocol or use Server Container and avoid this.
In this case, all eCommerce events will be sent from your Magento server directly to GTM or Google Analytics servers in HTTP requests. No customer data will be collected from the browser.
Never Miss a Conversion
If customers use AdBlockers or don’t accept cookies their purchases are simply missed. This results in inaccurate data reports and ineffective campaigns. Is there a solution?
Magento 2 Google Tag Manager enables you to use server-side tracking only for missing orders. Thus, you’ll capture every single purchase to leverage your marketing strategies while still using web container tracking.
Note: if you use a headless PWA storefront, you’ll benefit from the REST API endpoints our Magento 2 GTM Extension offers for server-side tracking.
Whenever you add any custom scripts to your store, you add extra time for these scripts to load. Since website speed is one of the most important factors in the purchasing decision we made sure it is not altered.
Our Magento 2 GTM Extension comes with a speed optimization feature. You can simply enable it from the backend and the GTM script will only be loaded after the first scroll, click or mouse touch.
Compatibility with Stape.io and Custom GTM Loaders
If you use Stape.io service or any other custom GTM loader to improve data tracking through GTM, you’d benefit from the ability to use the Web GTM code we offer.
You can choose to track data through Stape.io or other GTM loaders with BODY and HEAD scripts and gather valuable insights about store performance better.
Does Magento support GA4?
Yes, Magento supports the GA4. To configure it go to Stores > Configuration > Sales > Google API and enable it. However, note that in this case, you'll need to create all eCommerce events, triggers and tags in your Google Tag Manager account manually. Our extension will do this for you automatically.
How to add Google Tag Manager to Magento 2?
Usually you have to go to your Google Tag Manager account, get the GTM code there and paste this code in the HTML head field in Magento admin.
However, with this Magento 2 Google Tag Manager extension, all you need is to paste your tracking IDs in the extension configuration. Then import preset GTM tags into your Google Tag Manager account.
Does your Google Tag Manager Extension for Magento support Dynamic Remarketing?
Yes, this module supports dynamic remarketing. You just need to paste your Conversion ID and Label in the extension settings to enable it.
Why do I need to enable server-side tracking in Magento?
Unlike browser-based tracking, server-side tracking doesn't miss any conversions if customers use adblockers or don't access cookies. In thsi case, data is passed from your Magento server to GTM or GA4 server via HTTP requests.
What is the difference between GA4 Measurement Protocol and server container?
Both are used to enable server side tracking in Magento. However, if you use GA4 Measurement Protocol data will be sent from your Magento server to GA4 only. With the server container data is sent from your Magento server to GTM and then to GA4, Google Ads and somewhere else.
How do you know if Google Tag Manager is working?
Once you import the JSON file to your GTM account, open the debug view and trigger different events in your store. Besides, there are also other ways to test if GTM is working.
Can I install the Magento 2 Google Tag Manager module via the composer?
Yes, you can. All our modules can be installed via the composer. Once you purchase the extension, you receive keys to the private Magefan composer repository and find the composer installation commands available in the "My Downloads" section.
